The electric M3 will adopt the Neue Klasse design, showcasing new styling at both the front and rear.

There are speculations that it will come with four electric motors, generating over 700 horsepower.

BMW intends to continue offering the inline-six M3 alongside the new electric variant.

With the launch of its all-electric M3, BMW's M division is taking a bold step into the future, aiming to prove to enthusiasts that an engaging EV is achievable. While it may take some time before anyone can drive this exciting new model, recent spy shots provide a surprisingly clear view of what to expect. So far, the outlook is promising.

Aesthetically, the electric M3 will be among the first models in BMW’s Neue Klasse range, featuring a notably different design language compared to the current M3. One of the most significant alterations is at the front, where the large, often criticized kidney grilles from the six-cylinder variant seem to be disappearing.

A Fresh Approach to the Front Design

Based on sightings of prototypes, renderings by Kolesa indicate that the electric M3, likely to be dubbed the iM3, will present sharp headlights seamlessly integrated into sleek, illuminated kidney grilles. This design looks impressive, which is not a term typically associated with recent BMW offerings. The publication has also envisioned the new sports sedan with a sizable secondary lower grille in black, enhancing its aggressive appearance.

The same prototypes suggest that the side profile of the new model will show significant departures from the G80 M3, taking more inspiration from the latest 5-Series. This includes door handles that align flush with the body and streamlined lines. Moving to the rear...

The taillights of this new model are expected to resemble those from the recent Vision Driving Experience prototype, although if these renders are accurate, they will be slightly smaller and sleeker. A sculpted bumper with a prominent diffuser gives the rear a more assertive and defined look.

      Powertrain Options

BMW has yet to disclose official specifications for the iM3, but indications point to a quad-motor configuration. Theoretically, this setup could achieve an incredible 1,341 horsepower, equivalent to one Megawatt, but it is anticipated that the production version will produce somewhere between 700 to 800 horsepower. Even at these figures, it would be the most powerful M3 to date, and potentially the quickest as well.
