Stellantis is facing significant challenges. Following several consecutive quarters of declining sales, rising trade costs, and a series of delays in launching essential new products, the company announced on Monday a loss of 3.3 billion euros ($2.7 billion) for the first half of 2025. With U.S. sales once again falling—this time by a substantial 25% in Q2—it seems that 2025 is set to be another tough year for team Mopar and its European management.

In the U.S., the company's sales have been negatively impacted by a combination of vanishing products and soaring prices. The situation has been worsened by recent policy changes that undermine its strategy of manufacturing several key models in Canada. The scenario is particularly challenging in Dodge dealerships, where Stellantis must mitigate import duties on the Italy-manufactured Hornet with financial incentives. An enhanced Compass, which serves a similar role in Jeep’s lineup, is expected to arrive soon to boost small-car sales alongside the revived midsize Cherokee.

After facing a series of severe delays, the updated Ram 1500 truck lineup has finally started reaching customers. Consequently, sales of the half-ton trucks are now close to their 2024 figures. Ram aims to further boost pickup sales with the reintroduction of the 5.7-liter Hemi engine for 2026. This V8, which was eliminated during former CEO Carlos Tavares's leadership, will now come with a mild hybrid system and is priced higher than the standard Hurricane I6. If you want to experience the power of the V8, be prepared for a higher cost.

There’s also considerable upheaval abroad. While Stellantis has dismissed rumors regarding a potential sale of Maserati, it’s clear that the company is reevaluating its current and future brand portfolio. American consumers shouldn't anticipate any additional European models entering the U.S. market anytime soon.
