The Carrera GT was presented as a concept at the 2000 Paris Motor Show, but a recently revealed sketch indicates it may have had a different design.

A captivating sketch displays the Carrera GT featuring a fixed roof and an oversized rear diffuser.

Award-winning actor Adrien Brody dedicated several days to work as an intern with Porsche.

The Porsche Carrera GT is regarded as one of the most exceptional and recognized road cars produced by the German manufacturer. Its stunning design, robust V10 engine, and analog driving experience have solidified its status among automotive legends. Recently uncovered concept sketches imply that it could have taken a different form entirely, featuring a fixed roof instead of the removable hardtop that was eventually put into production.

As part of a collaboration between Porsche and Adrien Brody, the actor spent several days learning what it entails to both build and design a Porsche. About halfway through the video below, Brody converses with Grant Larson, director of special projects at Porsche, who briefly discusses the Carrera GT.

      An Alternative Design Direction

Larson mentions that “before the Carrera GT was conceived as a roadster, it existed simply as a mid-engine, V10 supercar.” He then presents a detailed sketch from 1999, an early concept of the Carrera GT, created a year prior to its first preview at the 2000 Paris Motor Show.

While there are clear similarities between the sketch and the final design of the Carrera GT, there are also distinct differences. In addition to having a fixed roof, this version features a sizable roof scoop and full aero-disc wheels, which enhance its aerodynamics. It also sports a prominent rear lip spoiler and a motorsport-inspired diffuser that appears to integrate the tailpipes into its fins. It looks impressive, though perhaps not as iconic as the Carrera GT that we have come to admire.

      Factory Tour and Porsche Culture

Brody’s video with Porsche is definitely worth a full watch. Apart from gaining fascinating insights into the brand's history, Brody tours its factory and assists in assembling various cars. He also speaks with several passionate employees who view working at Porsche as their dream job.
