If you’ve been delaying the purchase of a 2025 Mazda Miata due to its unavailability, your wait is over. The issue that caused Mazda to delay shipping its new MX-5s has been resolved, at least to the extent that the cars are now being sent to dealerships. However, there is a caveat: not all of them have been fully repaired.
In April, Mazda confirmed that it was holding back several 2025 Miatas at the port because of a potential issue with a stability control module. The company stated that it aimed to release the remaining vehicles by summer, and according to various online Miata communities, it delivered these cars to their designated dealerships in June.
“All affected vehicles have been released from ports,” the company remarked in an official statement. “Customers with vehicles whose VINs fall within the affected range will be contacted for complimentary repairs.”

What Mazda did not address was that even its dealerships had anticipated the faulty modules would be replaced prior to the car releases. Customers whose vehicles arrived before the replacement modules were received found accompanying paperwork indicating they could not take delivery until the recalled parts were swapped out.
The positive news is that the replacement components are now readily available, and the delays are now just a matter of days or, at most, weeks. There have been no reports of customers having their cars trapped in service limbo.
Overall, this is encouraging news for owners who have been waiting for their deliveries for months. Some were fortunate enough to have dealerships already stocked with the necessary parts when their cars arrived, speeding up the process; others had to wait several more days or weeks for the replacements.
As activity in these discussions dwindles, it seems that normalcy is returning in Miata territory.
