Lexus has successfully set two new Guinness World Records for tennis played on moving vehicles.
The spectacle featured Jamie Murray and Laura Robson trading shots with each other.
The duo managed to complete 101 rallies while traveling at speeds of up to 29 mph on top of NX crossovers.
Lexus has gained a reputation for being dull and practical, but the brand has been trying to stir things up for many years. This effort has led to the creation of the cherished LFA, the stunning LC, and various high-performance F models.
Fast forward to the present, and the company is capturing attention with a peculiar stunt aimed at generating conversation. Accomplishing this is challenging, but it’s rare to see two tennis professionals playing on top of moving vehicles.
In an unusual campaign, Jamie Murray and Laura Robson rallied a tennis ball back and forth 101 times while traveling at speeds of up to 29 mph (47 km/h). It’s important to note that Lexus didn't simply place the duo on top of NX crossovers and wish them luck.
In fact, the company constructed two aluminum platforms that were securely fastened through the roof rack mounting points. To ensure safety, Murray and Robson were strapped in with four safety belts, and professional stunt drivers skillfully navigated down the Duxford Airfield runway.
After numerous attempts and a few expletives, the pair achieved two new Guinness World Record titles: the "longest tennis rally on two moving cars" and the "fastest speed reached during a tennis rally on two moving cars."
It took them about two hours to set the records. Laura Robson commented, “Tennis is a sport that demands precision, skill, and coordination, so executing a rally on moving cars at high speed is quite a challenge!” She described the experience as "surreal," while Jamie Murray referred to it as the "most thrilling and unusual challenge I've ever faced."
