      The Lucid Air Grand Touring has recently achieved a new global record, effectively eliminating range anxiety.

      A Lucid Air has recorded the longest distance traveled on a single charge by an electric vehicle (EV).

      The Air Grand Touring journeyed 749 miles from St. Moritz to Munich.

      This distance surpassed the previous record by 99 miles and exceeded its own WLTP range.

      Range anxiety has long been associated with electric vehicles, but advancements in battery technology and expanding charging infrastructure have been making positive changes.

      These advancements are encouraging, but what is the actual distance an EV can cover? In the case of the Lucid Air Grand Touring, it’s an impressive 748.8 miles (1,205 km).

      This extraordinary distance recently earned a new title in the Guinness World Records for the "longest journey by an electric car on a single charge." The achievement occurred last weekend when an Air made the trip from St. Moritz, Switzerland, to Munich, Germany without stopping for a recharge. The record is particularly notable as the journey involved a combination of mountain passes, highways, and local roads.

      Lucid exceeded the former record by 99.4 miles (160 km), with the company’s chief engineer describing it as a “significant milestone” and a “clear demonstration of the technological advantage that defines Lucid.” Eric Bach further stated, “Lucid products integrate world-class vehicle efficiency with the most advanced drive units, ultra-high voltage architecture, and cutting-edge battery management technology available today.”

      In terms of its powertrain, the Euro-spec Air Grand Touring features a dual-motor all-wheel drive system delivering 820 hp (611 kW / 831 PS) and 885 lb-ft (1,200 Nm) of torque. This configuration allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.2 seconds, reaching a top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h).

      The car is powered by a 117 kWh battery pack, which offers a WLTP range of 596.5 miles (960 km). This means the record-setting vehicle surpassed that number by an impressive 152.2 miles (245 km).
