On Wednesday morning, Porsche revealed that the popular all-wheel-drive versions of its enhanced (but not Turbo-level) 911 Carrera S will be reintroduced this fall, featuring the same enhancements already seen in the 992.2 range.

The mechanical updates are not extensive, and much of what is included in this revised package has been previously discussed in detail. The 4S models receive a boost of 30 horsepower similar to that of the already available rear-wheel-drive variants; Porsche attributes the extra power to an optimized intercooler configuration developed for the 911 Turbo.

The all-wheel-drive system in the 4S model is calibrated with a natural rearward bias to enhance playfulness. Additionally, all 4S models come equipped with a sport exhaust system, enhanced brakes, and Porsche’s "Torque Vectoring Plus" differential. The Targa 4S features rear-axle steering as standard, while adding this feature to the coupe or convertible is necessary for an equivalent setup.

With the inclusion of all-wheel drive, the 911 accelerates to 60 mph more quickly, although its overall performance remains largely unchanged. According to Porsche, all three models can complete the acceleration sprint in just 3.1 seconds. These times are based on the standard dual-clutch PDK transmission, as the manual 911 is no longer available.

The 2026 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S lineup—comprising the Coupe, Cabriolet, and Targa—will be available for purchase later this year. The new models can already be found in Porsche’s online configurator, but the company is withholding pricing information until the on-sale date this fall. Stay tuned.
