The new EX60 will be built on the automaker's latest SPA3 architecture.
This model is expected to share powertrain elements with other Volvo electric vehicles.
Recent Volvo models like the ES90 support 350 kW DC fast charging.
Volvo's range of electric vehicles includes models such as the EX30, EX40, C40, and EX90. Recently, it has added the ES90 sedan, designed to compete with the BMW i5. Soon, the brand's EV lineup will expand with the addition of the EX60.
Initially introduced as a clay model during the ES90 unveiling in March, the EX60 will provide an electric option to the appealing but outdated XC60. A social media post revealed one of the SUV's taillights, showcasing a robust design with distinct LED light signatures, and typically for a Volvo SUV, the lights extend up the rear pillars.

In their post, the company mentioned that the EX60 is "fully software-defined and built to evolve over time," adding, "the Volvo EX60 is more than just a midsize SUV; it represents the future. It will launch in early 2026."
Volvo has kept many important details about the EX60 under wraps. However, it is confirmed to be the first model utilizing the scalable SPA3 architecture, an enhanced version of the SPA2 platform used by the EX90 and ES90.
Information regarding the powertrains available for the EX60 has yet to be revealed. Nevertheless, it is reasonable to speculate that it may feature specifications similar to the ES90, likely offering both single- and dual-motor options. If the EX60's battery pack has the same capacity as the ES90's 102 kWh, its range should approach 400 miles (644 km). Thanks to its DC fast charging capabilities, recharging this battery should be efficient, as the ES90 can accept up to 350 kW inputs, allowing for an addition of 186 miles (300 km) of range in just 10 minutes.
Earlier this month, Volvo announced that the EX60 would be the first model equipped with its new multi-adaptive safety belt. This system employs sensors to analyze the height, weight, and shape of a passenger, adjusting the required force in the event of a collision.
