Renault Argentina has transformed a Kangoo Express van into a convertible limousine for factory tours.
This custom van can accommodate nine passengers across four rows of seats, made possible by its extended wheelbase.
It will serve its purpose once Renault’s Santa Isabel plant completes preparations for a new compact pickup.
We always find it interesting to see unusual conversions, especially when they originate from an automaker. The latest instance is a customized convertible “limo” based on the modest Renault Kangoo Express van, crafted in Argentina.
Images of this unique creation were posted on social media by Pablo Sibila, President of Renault Argentina. The vehicle retains the front and rear sections of the Kangoo Express, including its fenders and doors, but has undergone extensive modifications elsewhere.
The roof has been removed, and the wheelbase has been significantly extended. The special edition showcases a wrap featuring the colors of the Argentinian flag and graphics inspired by the Renault logo. The interior has been revamped to include four rows of seating.
From the images, it appears the Kangoo Limo can carry nine passengers plus the driver. The removal of the front passenger seat allows for access to the second row, while passengers can enter the third and fourth rows through the sliding door. Additionally, those seated in the back enjoy an elevated position for better visibility.
The original vehicle is a rebadged variant of the Dacia Dokker, which serves as a more budget-friendly option to the third-generation Renault Kangoo. In Argentina, the van comes with two engine choices. The 1.6-liter gasoline engine generates 112 hp (84 kW / 114 PS) and 156 Nm (115 lb-ft) of torque, while the 1.5-liter diesel produces 88 hp (66 kW / 89 PS) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft).
So, what is the motivation behind the creation of the Kangoo Limo by Renault factory workers in Argentina? According to their president, this unique vehicle will offer factory tours to visitors, including schoolchildren. However, this is currently not feasible as the Santa Isabel plant is undergoing a “confidentiality period.”
The facility is gearing up for the production of a new half-ton pickup tailored for South America, which was previewed by the Niagara Concept in 2023. This compact truck will feature a modular unibody design and could potentially come with a hybrid powertrain option. The Renault Kangoo Limo is set to officially commence service following the debut of the new model.
