Warranties often don’t generate much excitement, but when they’re as impressive as this one, they certainly deserve attention. Ram is introducing a new 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty for all 2026 model year trucks, ranging from the 1500 half-ton to the 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 models. This means that regardless of which new Ram truck you purchase, whether it's a Baja-blasting RHO or a Cummins diesel HD model, the powertrain will be covered for nearly a decade (unless you hit the mileage limit before then, of course).
Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis stated in a press release that this move is a direct response to the rising costs of new vehicles and the loan terms that most customers are opting for. “Everything is becoming more expensive, and trucks are certainly no exception. Buyers are financing their truck purchases for longer periods, with nearly 80 percent of new truck loans exceeding five years,” he noted.
The only Ram model excluded from this new warranty is the Promaster EV, as these vehicles are typically owned by fleets, and the limited warranty is not available for fleets—only for individuals and businesses.
The 10-year/100,000-mile coverage encompasses the engine, transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, differentials, and axles. This means that if the glow plugs fail on your brand-new 6.7-liter Cummins through no fault of your own, they will cover it. Or, if the e-locking front differential fails on your Power Wagon after 95,000 miles, Ram will replace it as long as you didn’t cause the issue.
All things considered, this is a great offer. Ford and General Motors limit their powertrain warranties to five years/60,000 miles, which has become the industry norm. While a few manufacturers like Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, and Mitsubishi offer warranties that match Ram’s new terms, this is the first instance we’ve seen for larger, robust trucks. This alone makes it quite remarkable.
