A Coyote V8 engine paired with a Tremec 6-speed ensures that this updated Mustang offers a far better driving experience than the original.
Restomod 1970 Mustang Mach 1 showcases custom body modifications and daring interior changes.
The classic exterior conceals a modern Coyote V8, a six-speed manual transmission, and an enhanced suspension system.
The interior features Alcantara and leather trim, along with a green-painted dashboard and aftermarket electronic components.
Some classic cars remain untouched, valued like works of art, while others are boldly reimagined as modern powerhouses. This Mustang clearly belongs to the latter group. Nevertheless, the ongoing popularity of the restomod trend indicates that many enthusiasts seek a blend of vintage aesthetics with contemporary performance. This specific 1970 Mustang Mach 1 is likely to elicit strong opinions from both camps.
This vibrant green Ford is set to go to auction this weekend, representing a custom rotisserie build that has seen virtually every component upgraded. While some restomods are subtle, this one stands out dramatically.
If you manage to look past the striking paint, you'll see numerous modifications to the body, including new rear quarter panels with larger air intakes, a custom hood, a fresh silver grille, and an extended chin spoiler. It also features new side skirts and side-exit exhausts.
The alterations made to the interior may be seen as excessive. The green paint covers not just the driver's and passenger's sides of the dashboard, but also the transmission tunnel. The remaining sections are finished in glossy grey leather and Alcantara. Additionally, aftermarket gauges and a double-din Pioneer stereo system have been installed.
Whatever your opinion on the styling decisions, the performance enhancements made to the Mustang are noteworthy. Under the hood is a Coyote 5.0-liter V8 mated to a Tremec T56 6-speed manual transmission. Power is delivered to a nine-inch rear end, and steering has been upgraded to a rack and pinion setup.
The suspension has also seen improvements with the addition of new upper and lower control arms, coilovers, and an aluminum driveshaft. Wilwood brakes offer robust stopping power, while a stainless steel exhaust system allows the V8 to perform at its best.
Mecum Auctions is presenting this lime-green restomod beast at auction, having reportedly accumulated just 5,403 miles (8,695 kilometers) since its rebuild. If you're interested or simply want to share your thoughts in the comments, you can find the listing here.
