Ford has unveiled a sneak peek of the new Super Mustang Mach-E, which will participate in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb.
This unique prototype will be driven by Romain Dumas, who competed with last year’s SuperTruck.
It generates 6,125 lbs of downforce and looks markedly different from the production version.
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is scheduled for June 22, and Ford aims to have an advantage with two impressive vehicles, as Romain Dumas will be behind the wheel of an extraordinary Mustang Mach-E.
Referred to simply as the Super Mustang Mach-E, this unique model has little in common with the electric pony car available at dealerships. The alterations are immediately visible, as it features a low-profile coupe design rather than a raised hatchback that resembles a crossover.
In addition to its appearance, the car has undergone extreme aerodynamic enhancements. Among these changes are a substantial front splitter and a large diffuser, along with canards and an enormous rear wing. As a result of these modifications, the model produces 6,125 lbs (2,778 kg) of downforce, surpassing both the 2023 SuperVan 4.2 and last year's F-150 Lightning SuperTruck.
Beyond aerodynamics, the Super Mustang Mach-E features a small grille and custom bodywork. It also boasts a sleek rear design with pronounced curves and muscular contours. The model seems considerably shorter than the standard EV, although Ford has yet to reveal specific details.
While powertrain specifics are not disclosed, the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck provides some insight into potential expectations. It was equipped with three STARD UHP six-phase motors that collectively generated more than 1,600 hp (1,193 kW / 1,622 PS). The truck also featured a specialized suspension and high-performance Li-Polymer NMC cells.
We anticipate receiving more information in the upcoming weeks, as Ford has been participating in the Pikes Peak event since 1916. That year, a Model T made it to the summit in 28 minutes and 03 seconds, compared to 8:53.553 for the SuperTruck and 8:47.682 for the SuperVan 4.2.
