The large wind turbine has damaged part of the concrete overpass.

Local officials may need to keep the highway closed for up to a week.

The truck driver was meant to follow a support crew onto an off-ramp.

If you think you had a rough day at work last Friday, consider the truck driver in this situation. While transporting a wind turbine component, the truck became lodged under an overpass in Queensland, Australia, near Brisbane, leading local authorities to close one side of the highway.

The incident occurred around 1:40 a.m. on April 16. As you might expect, moving such large items requires careful planning and a team of accompanying vehicles. However, the Queensland Police Service suspects the truck driver may not have followed the pilot vehicles assigned to guide him onto the off-ramp right before the overpass.

Photos from the incident show the wind turbine part stuck beneath the Mount Crosby Road overpass, close to Tivoli. To complicate matters further for the driver, this was not a minor backroad accident; it occurred on the Warrego Highway, a key route for both commuters and freight traffic.

A team of local engineers, along with help from the transport company responsible for the error, needed about 12 hours to extract the turbine from the overpass. Unfortunately, the troubles did not end there.

As reported by The Courier Mail, the collision caused considerable damage to both the underside of the overpass and the road. The westbound lanes of the highway are anticipated to remain closed for up to a week while the damage is evaluated and repaired. This closure could add 20-30 minutes to local travel times.

Thankfully, there were no injuries from the incident, although the truck driver, who is in his 50s, was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Just another Friday morning in Queensland.
