Mazda and Changan have introduced a performance version of the EZ-6 sedan tailored for the Chinese market.
The EZ-6 Sport Edition is distinguished by Alcantara seats, red accents, and black exterior elements.
This Sports Edition is available as a battery electric vehicle (BEV) or a range-extended hybrid, offering up to 255 horsepower in electric mode.
Mazda’s newest model has arrived, showcasing an even more aggressive look than its predecessor. The 6e sedan already featured elegant styling and a sophisticated interior, but it was calling out for a sportier version, reminiscent of BMW’s M Sport line. Mazda has heeded this call with their latest offering.
The Japanese manufacturer and Changan have developed the EZ-6 Sports Edition for the Chinese market, with the EZ-6 serving as the Asian designation for what we in the West recognize as the 6e.

The Sports Edition stands out from the more subdued EZ-6 variants thanks to its black exterior accents, glossy black 19-inch alloy wheels, and red brake calipers. The sporty theme carries into the interior, featuring Alcantara upholstery and touches of red in the seat stitching and upholstery.
Additionally, Mazda has incorporated red ambient lighting for the interior surfaces and a mesh-look trim for the console, closely resembling the design on sportier CX-60 models. The same 14.6-inch infotainment display found in other EZ-6/6e models, a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, and a 14-speaker Sony audio system are included as standard, as reported by Car News China.

The Sports Edition was unveiled at last month's Shanghai Auto Show but went unnoticed. Mazda and Changan did not clarify whether it delivers more power than the standard sedan, leading us to believe it may just be a trim upgrade. We also strongly suspect that Mazda will soon introduce a similar trim level for the European 6e, as Car News China notes that the Sports Edition was co-developed by Mazda and Changan in China alongside Mazda Europe.
We have inquired with Mazda Europe regarding the powertrain details, the possibility of the Sports Edition being offered in the West, and its potential name if it does, and we will update you once we receive further information.
One notable difference between the Chinese and Western versions will be the available powertrain options, despite both models being produced in the same Changan facility. The EZ-6 in China can be equipped with either a 1.5-liter range-extender system yielding 215 hp (218 PS / 160 kW) or a 255 hp (258 PS / 190 kW) fully electric variant, while the European 6e models are exclusively electric.
