Jeep has unveiled the Awning and Rooftop Tent concept at Overland Expo West.

This concept features a carbon fiber shell that is directly mounted on the roof of the Sunchaser design.

The tent allows access from inside the vehicle and can accommodate a queen-size mattress.

Overland Expo West began earlier today, and Jeep took the opportunity to showcase a concept built upon another concept. It's a rare occurrence, but their most recent innovation is a rooftop tent from Jeep Performance Parts.

Installed atop the Wrangler 4xe Sunchaser concept, the Awning and Rooftop Tent (ARTT) concept was developed in partnership with Dometic and is designed as a premium camping accessory. Jeep noted that while rooftop tents have surged in popularity, many are bulky and lack good aerodynamics.

The ARTT tackles these issues by incorporating a lightweight carbon fiber shell with an aerodynamically optimized design. Another innovative aspect is that the tent is mounted directly onto the vehicle's roof, eliminating the need for a cumbersome roof rack.

Upon reaching a campsite, setup is intended to be straightforward, utilizing “Dometic’s AIR Frame Inflation technology and an integrated awning that extends 270 degrees.” Once assembled, users will discover spacious sleeping quarters roomy enough for a queen-size mattress.

One of the standout features is the ability to enter the tent from inside the vehicle, made possible by the Wrangler’s removable Freedom Panels. To facilitate entry and exit, a carbon fiber step can be placed over the center console.

As for the Wrangler 4xe Sunchaser concept, it made its debut earlier this year at the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. It sports a distinctive exterior with ventilated fender flares, rock rails, and side-mounted storage boxes reminiscent of those on the Land Rover Defender.

Additional features include a Warn winch, a custom push bar, and a tailored leather interior with gloss black accents. Completing the modifications are a 2-inch (51 mm) lift and 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 mud terrain tires.
