A few weeks after acquiring part ownership of California's iconic Willow Spring Raceway, Singer is once again making headlines for more predictable reasons: they have launched a new model inspired by a classic Porsche. This new creation is based on the “Super Sport” widebody G-model 911—imagine a 930 Turbo but without the turbocharging—and, as is customary for this company, it looks absolutely stunning. While there are numerous details to appreciate about Singer’s latest vehicle, what first drew our attention were the pop-out fog lights featured in the specific examples we’re discussing.

If you examine the hood closely, you'll see two circular cutouts. When the driver activates the fog lights using a switch likely crafted for optimal weight and feel, the covers open, and the light pods emerge. Perhaps someone has done this with a 911 in the past, but I’ve never encountered it. Naturally, current regulations prohibit pop-up headlights on new cars, but because Singer’s vehicles are thorough restorations, they might sidestep these limitations—though I can't say for certain. What I do know is they look fantastic, invoking a bit of classic rally spirit for a vehicle that saw some success in rally competitions, even if it's often overshadowed by its circuit performance.

In any case, these G-inspired widebody cars (two of the 100 units, according to Singer) are the first to utilize flat-six engines with variable valve timing, combining water-cooled cylinder heads with air-cooled cylinders. These innovations have been achieved through Singer’s DLS Turbo program, and they are finally reaching the market—for 100 fortunate buyers, that is. The 4.0-liter, Cosworth-tuned engine in the redesigned Carrera Coupe generates 420 horsepower and can rev beyond 8,000 rpm; a manual transmission is also available as an option.

Two examples of what the company refers to as its “Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Reimagined by Singer.” A side note: the rendering artist for the company consistently delivers stunning designs. Singer Vehicle Design

However, Singer does much more than simply replace the engine when you bring them your Type 964 Porsche; they also enhance the chassis. This is where Red Bull Advanced Technologies comes into play, as Singer collaborates with experts behind many successful Grand Prix cars to improve the torsional rigidity and overall strength of the 964 monocoque. Singer implements a “system” of composite and steel reinforcements at the outset of the restoration process to ensure these sports cars drive with more confidence than ever before.

The body is entirely made of carbon fiber, since if you're investing seven figures to perfect your 911, why not go all out? You’ll notice the yellow example features a whale tail, while the other does not—this is a customizable option for clients. Unsurprisingly, the interior offers ample personalization opportunities, and even the gauges are handcrafted to “high watchmaking standards.” There hasn't been any information about whether the trim can be chosen in black metallic.

What more can be said about another stunning Singer creation? The company has displayed an impressive variety in recent years, from cyberpunk, safari-style builds to big-winged, 935-inspired track machines. Yet, after all this time, I remain convinced that the one I would choose would be clean and simple, with just a touch of chrome.
