F1 Champion Max Verstappen and Kelly Piquet Celebrate the Arrival of Their Daughter Lily.
Max Verstappen, a four-time Formula 1 World Champion, and Kelly Piquet, the daughter of three-time F1 champion Nelson Piquet, have welcomed their newborn daughter, Lily. The announcement regarding the birth of the Red Bull Racing star's first child was made public on Friday morning by the driver's communications team.
“Wonderful news! Lily has arrived,” stated the driver’s press release. “The new parents, along with Penelope, are thrilled with the addition to their family. Lily was born healthy, and both Kelly and the baby are doing well.”
A photo of Verstappen and Piquet holding their daughter was posted on Instagram at 8:00 a.m. EST, suggesting that the birth likely occurred in the early hours in Europe, possibly on Thursday.
Red Bull confirmed on Thursday afternoon that Verstappen would be unavailable for the media day of the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, due to the impending birth of his child, although they anticipated his arrival in Miami before Friday’s practice session.
“Welcome to the world, precious Lily. Our hearts are fuller than ever – you are our greatest gift. We love you dearly,” Verstappen wrote in his caption.
Lily is the couple's first child together. However, Piquet is already a mother to Penelope, whose father is Daniel Kvyat, a former Red Bull F1 driver. The couple's first daughter will turn seven this July. Penelope has recently gained some attention on social media with her charming acts of kindness towards Verstappen, whether at home or during F1 races.
Verstappen and Piquet are not married and there is a nearly ten-year age difference between them, which the F1 champion has commented on previously. According to the Daily Mail, he has stated that “only time will tell” if they will marry.
Regardless, I wish them all the best as they expand their family.
