Despite several automakers enjoying a strong April, Subaru's sales only rose by 0.3%.

The Crosstrek and Forester saw increases in sales, yet many other models faced declines.

Sales of the BRZ skyrocketed by 85.9%, but that still translates to fewer than 200 additional units sold.

Subaru made a notable impression at the New York Auto Show, but this enthusiasm didn’t carry over to dealership sales. In contrast to the double-digit increases achieved by competitors, Subaru’s sales were merely up by 0.3%.

Nevertheless, one model did see an 85.9% increase in April. While that sounds remarkable, it pertains to the BRZ, resulting in only 153 extra sales. This may not be great for Subaru, but it benefited the 331 buyers who acquired an exceptional vehicle.

On the other hand, the 2025 Forester seems to be attracting consumers, with sales rising by 8.3% last month to 19,330 units. The popular crossover was followed by the Crosstrek, which experienced a 23.2% increase. The Outback, Subaru’s third best-seller, saw a decline of 12.4%.

Speaking of the Outback, Subaru introduced the revamped model in New York, marking a significant transformation. Aside from moving away from the wagon body style, it boasts a larger cargo area and offers two engine options. The 2.5-liter Boxer engine generates 180 hp (134 kW / 183 PS), while the optional 2.4-liter turbo engine produces 260 hp (194 kW / 264 PS).

Despite a substantial price reduction for 2025, Solterra sales plummeted by 34.8%. A refreshed model was unveiled in the Big Apple, but it's unlikely to help as the improved powertrain is overshadowed by a questionable design.

Finally, the WRX has experienced better times, with sales of the 271 hp (202 kW / 275 PS) sedan decreasing by 59.1%. This represents a drop of over 1,000 units, suggesting a limited market for a sporty all-wheel-drive car starting at $35,750.
