The production variant of the SUV will be included in the Cyber series, alongside the Cyberster roadster and coupe electric vehicles.

The MG CyberX concept was presented in China as a compact electric SUV featuring a rugged design.

Following the concept, a production model is anticipated to be released in Europe.

It will utilize SAIC’s E3 platform, featuring electric power and a "cell-to-body" construction.

MG introduced the CyberX at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, and if you're thinking, "Didn’t I hear this was just a concept?" you’re partly correct, though also not fully accurate. This SUV, which is part of MG’s new Cyber series that includes the Cyberster roadster, was displayed in a minimally disguised concept form, as the production model is already in development.

Designed by the Creator of the Bugatti Veyron

The CyberX features a boxy silhouette with short overhangs and a streamlined, minimalist design. Its greenhouse strongly resembles that of the Toyota Land Cruiser Series 300, contributing to its rugged and adventurous appearance. The striking pop-up headlights are positioned just above a wide LED strip on the hood. Meanwhile, the SUV’s robust stance is complemented by boxy wheel arches, substantial tires, and ample ground clearance.

Jozef Kaban, the designer behind this project, has extensive experience in notable automotive design. Having worked with brands such as Audi, Skoda, Bugatti, BMW, Rolls-Royce, and Volkswagen, he knows how to create eye-catching vehicles. His portfolio includes iconic designs like the Bugatti Veyron, in addition to more mainstream cars like the VW Lupo and Skoda Octavia.

Speaking with Autocar magazine, Kaban pointed out that the CyberX takes a different direction compared to the Cyberster roadster, illustrating MG’s adaptability—though this notion of MG’s versatility may still require practical validation. He also noted that the pop-up headlights pay tribute to the Ferrari Testarossa.

      CyberX’s Dimensions and Possible Rivals

In its concept form, the CyberX is 4.3 meters (169.3 inches) long, positioning it at the higher end of the sub-compact category in Europe. Despite its comparable size, the CyberX could coexist alongside the more traditional MG ZS and ES5 models due to its unique identity.

While MG has not disclosed interior details, reports suggest the CyberX’s connectivity features are being developed in collaboration with smartphone manufacturer Oppo. The tinted windows imply that the model showcased at the Shanghai Auto Show was more of a static prototype rather than a fully operational vehicle.

      Production Model

MG has not yet released complete specifications, but rumors indicate that the production model could be the first to utilize SAIC’s new E3 platform, designed specifically for electric vehicles. This suggests that the CyberX will be entirely electric, potentially incorporating SAIC’s "cell-to-body" technology, which allows the battery to be integrated into the vehicle’s structure for enhanced rigidity and reduced weight.

In addition to China, the production version of the MG CyberX is expected to be made available in Europe and Australia. The launch timeline has not been revealed, but reports from China indicate it may occur in the next couple of years.
