Although extremely rare, this 807-horsepower beast recently sold for 17 percent below its sticker price.

A 2023 Challenger Super Stock, boasting 807 horsepower, was sold for $17,740 under MSRP.

In February, another Super Stock was auctioned off for $63,250, indicating a significant drop from its initial pricing.

According to data from Bring A Trailer, there has been a steady decline in prices for cars that were previously marked up.

Among all Hellcat variants, including the original and the Demon, the Super Stock is somewhat of an outlier. Consider it a more polished, limited-production version of the Demon, but with less emphasis on drag racing. While this distinction makes it unique, it has also contributed to a decrease in prices for such models, particularly following the recent sale of a low-mileage 2023 version for nearly $18,000 less than its original MSRP.

This 2023 Challenger Super Stock is one of only 1,490 units ever produced, and it is finished in Sublime Green with a black interior. It comes equipped with nearly every feature you'd expect from a muscle car costing nearly $100K, such as a sunroof, heated and ventilated seats, and a technology/driver package. Under the hood, there's an 807-horsepower (601 kW) V8 engine paired with an automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, showcasing classic Hellcat characteristics.

The vehicle also doesn’t compromise on performance. It includes adaptive dampers, a power chiller to mitigate engine heat soak, lightweight Demon wheels, and all-aluminum Brembo brakes—features taken directly from the original Demon, assuring its capabilities.

Despite these attributes, the car, which had an original MSRP of $103,740, was recently sold for $86,000. It garnered only 25 bids and 18 comments, with 19 of those bids placed on the last day of the auction. Could this be a singular occurrence? Perhaps. However, trends seem to indicate otherwise.

      The Bubble Is Bursting

A comparable Super Stock with 8,000 miles was auctioned on the same platform in February for just $63,250. This was not a worn-out unit with numerous defects; on the contrary, it was one of fewer than 200 made during that model year and among only a handful in its color combination. The reality is becoming apparent: the period of intense fear of missing out (FOMO) driving excessive pricing for vehicles like the Challenger appears to be over.

This decline in value is not merely a coincidence. Data supports this trend. Bring A Trailer's pricing trends highlight that, while prices surged in mid-2022, they have been consistently dropping since the beginning of 2024.

Although some rare models will continue to fetch a premium, generally, those who exercise patience with their money are reaping the benefits.
