Bugatti has relocated the Speed Key for the Tourbillon to a concealed slot within the cabin.

In the absence of this special key, the hypercar’s speed is restricted to 236 mph (380 km/h).

Deliveries to customers will start in 2026, with prices beginning at approximately $4.6 million.

Bugatti is not known for taking shortcuts, and the Bugatti Tourbillon hypercar continues this tradition. Although customer deliveries are set to commence next year, new information is slowly emerging as buyers engage in the highly detailed (and very costly) process of customizing their vehicles. A recent update reveals that the renowned Speed Key, which unlocks the car's top speed, has been moved.

In the Veyron and Chiron models, the Speed Key was stored in a small compartment between the driver's seat and the door sill. This location has now been redesigned. Due to the Tourbillon’s brand-new carbon fiber monocoque, Bugatti has had to reconfigure the arrangement, placing the Speed Key in the center console. While that may seem like a natural choice, it’s important to note that this is Bugatti.

      The Bugatti Way of Redesign

Expertly concealed within the C-line that runs through the center of the cabin, the center console includes a pair of flaps that open to expose a compact storage area adorned with what seems to be high-quality suede. Inside, there is space for a sizable Bugatti emblem, potentially representing the main key, along with a dedicated slot for the Speed Key.

Additionally, a small keyhole is provided for the Speed Key, which must be inserted to unlock the full performance capabilities of the Tourbillon. When the key is activated, the Tourbillon can achieve its promised maximum speed of 276 mph (445 km/h).

Bugatti states that without the Speed Key, the Tourbillon's speed is restricted to 236 mph (380 km/h). While that speed is more than most would dare to reach on public roads, those looking to experience the Tourbillon’s maximum speed will require the Speed Key. For buyers investing seven figures, such a theatrical element is not only anticipated but also part of the allure.

The car that replaces the Chiron is powered by a naturally aspirated 8.3-liter V16 engine that revs up to 9,000 rpm, producing 986 hp on its own. This impressive figure is complemented by three electric motors and a 25 kWh battery pack, bringing the total output to a remarkable 1,775 hp.
