A New Ford Sedan Has Been Caught Testing in America | Carscoops
Despite being tested in the U.S., the redesigned Mondeo will probably remain off-limits.
Ford's updated Mondeo has been spotted undergoing testing in the United States.
The vehicle features a refreshed front end, complete with a new grille and updated lighting elements.
The interior is obscured, hinting at possible alterations to the cabin and its 27-inch display.
Ford phased out sedans in North America years ago, leaving the Focus, Fusion, and Taurus as mere memories. Therefore, it's not surprising that the facelifted Mondeo attracted considerable attention during its recent testing in the U.S.
Clad in swirling black and white camouflage, the model showcases a new front fascia with a redesigned grille and updated lighting units, which are currently hidden from view, but a new daytime running light signature is visible.

While additional specifics are challenging to discern, the vehicle appears to have a more rounded front bumper and a revised lower intake. Familiar body shapes are present, but the camouflage suggests updated side skirts are on the way.
Changes to the rear are less prominent, yet it wouldn't be surprising if new taillights and a modified bumper appear. The diffuser seems to have received some refinements as well.
The interior is obscured by camouflage, so the full extent of the updates is uncertain. However, we can likely anticipate a tech-savvy design, as the current version includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a large 27-inch infotainment screen that also serves as a front passenger display.
Not much else is known about the facelifted Mondeo at this stage, but the existing model in China offers a variety of engine options. These comprise a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine producing 188 hp (140 kW / 190 PS) and 190 lb-ft (258 Nm) of torque, as well as a 2.0-liter EcoBoost that generates 251 hp (187 kW / 254 PS) and 290 lb-ft (393 Nm).
Chinese consumers can also select electrified versions that include a 129 hp (96 kW / 131 PS) or 188 hp (140 kW / 190 PS) electric motor, yielding a combined output of 205 hp (153 kW / 208 PS) and 304 hp (227 kW / 309 PS).
Although the prototype has made its way to the U.S. for testing, the final production model is unlikely to follow suit.
