This beast from the 1980s can reach speeds of 213 mph (342 km/h), surpassing even the legendary Ferrari F40.

The original Ruf CTR Yellowbird, which has 31,174 km on the clock, is anticipated to sell for between $4.5 million and $5.5 million.

It's believed that only 13 Ruf CTR Yellowbirds are present in the United States.

      The original 4.3-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine delivers 463 hp and 408 lb-ft of torque.

Recently, one of the rare 29 original RUF CTR Yellowbirds sold for an impressive $6.1 million, roughly 41 times its original price. This figure is comparable to limited-edition hypercars like the LaFerrari Aperta; however, the Yellowbird stands out as more than just any supercar. The recent sale has piqued new interest, prompting the owner of another Yellowbird to consider selling the German classic.

This time, Broad Arrow Auctions will be managing the sale, with expectations set between $4.5 million and $5.5 million.

In the late 1980s, the CTR established the benchmark for speed, earning the title of the fastest production car globally. With a capability of reaching 213 mph (342 km/h), it is still comparable to many modern mid-engine supercars. After outperforming competitors during a Road & Track test in 1987, it garnered the nickname “Yellowbird,” securing its legacy in the supercar world.

A Unique Specimen Among RUF CTRs

Of the 29 original cars produced, it is believed that 13 currently reside in the United States, with each being distinctive in its own manner. However, this specific Yellowbird possesses something that no other CTR offers: Ruf’s lightweight interior, featuring racing harnesses.

The odometer indicates this Yellowbird has traveled 31,174 km (19,370 miles), which is significantly more than the 1,673 km (1,039 miles) recorded by the car that was sold last month, contributing to its lower expected value. Nevertheless, the interior appears to be in excellent condition, along with the car's underside.

The listing from Broad Arrow Auctions confirms that this Yellowbird was factory certified in 2016 and retains all of its original paint, apart from a minor repair in the engine bay. Under the hood lies the same 4.3-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine that originally produced 463 horsepower and 408 lb-ft (553 Nm) of torque, with power delivered to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.

It will be intriguing to see how much this particular Yellowbird sells for and whether a high sale price will inspire other CTR owners to consider cashing in on their iconic supercars.
