Authorities are continuing their search for the suspects and the stolen vehicles.
Car thieves don’t always have to be discreet—but doing donuts in the street before disappearing into the night? That’s definitely a memorable way to leave. Currently, Schoepp Motors in Middleton, Wisconsin, is working to enhance security following the theft of two high-value cars early Sunday morning. The whereabouts of the suspects and the stolen vehicles remain unknown to police.
As reported by the Middleton Police Department, two masked individuals broke into Schoepp Motors at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Sunday. They searched the dealership and tried to steal a red Corvette, which appeared to have a manual transmission. Due to the third pedal, they seemed unable to take it, but they quickly found keys to an automatic Corvette Z06 and a Dodge Challenger Hellcat.
Security footage captured the suspects driving away with the cars, but before they disappeared, they made a few donuts at the intersection of Tribeca Drive and Century Ave. Craig Blevins, a manager at Schoepp Motors, mentioned to WKOW that the thieves were not a quick pair.
Blevins arrived at the dealership on Sunday morning and soon realized something was amiss. “[If] they stayed here any longer, we would have had to charge them rent. They were here for a long time,” he commented.
At first glance, things didn’t seem too bad: “I looked through the front windows and saw our red Corvette parked in the showroom, so I felt relieved to see that vehicle still here.” However, that relief was short-lived. Blevins promptly contacted the Middleton police and dealership owner Mr. Schoepp. Officers arrived within minutes but realized the building had been thoroughly ransacked.
Currently, police hope that someone will come forward with information to help locate the cars and suspects. Anyone with tips can reach the Middleton police at 608-824-7300 or Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
