This Upgraded 2002 Acura NSX Recently Sold for the Price of a New Ferrari | Carscoops
The V6-powered sports car was sold on BaT with approximately 9,000 miles on the odometer 12 hours ago.
A 2002 Acura NSX-T fetched $370K, even with an aftermarket supercharger installed.
Having only 9,000 miles contributed to this modified NSX's record-breaking auction sale.
The appealing six-speed manual transmission likely attracted collector interest.
If you need more evidence that the collector car market has embraced the early 2000s, consider this silver marvel of Honda engineering. Low-mileage Acura NSXs are rare, and when they do become available, they can command exorbitant prices—this one certainly stands out.
Earlier this week, a 2002 NSX-T was sold for an impressive $370,000, despite being enhanced with an aftermarket supercharger. This transaction set a new auction record at Bring a Trailer. To put things into perspective, that price is comparable to new supercars, as the latest Ferrari 296 starts at around $347,000.
The market for pristine, original NSX models has been thriving lately, and this Silverstone Metallic variant attracted significant attention upon its listing. It appears to be in exceptional condition, with roughly 9,000 miles (about 14,400 km) and only two previous owners prior to the dealer’s acquisition.
A Pristine Example With Just the Right Modifications
Visually, the car remains mostly stock. However, beneath the surface, the original 3.2-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine was upgraded with a Comptech supercharger kit and a new exhaust in 2002. Although the listing does not detail the car's power output, it does confirm that it retains the original six-speed manual transmission, as opposed to the automatic option available at the time.
The listing includes images showing the NSX's underside, which appears flawless. It’s evident that the car was meticulously cleaned before the photos were taken, and there are no indications of rust; some components, such as the control arms and many bolts, appear brand new. It truly seems as though it just left the factory.
The interior is just as immaculate. Featuring Silver leather upholstery, it comes equipped with power-adjustable seats, cruise control, automatic climate control, and a six-disc CD changer. The original 17-inch forged wheels have been preserved and are fitted with Yokohama Advan Fleva tires.
An inspection of the window sticker indicates that the car had an original MSRP of $89,745, roughly equivalent to $159,000 today. Given that NSX production was not particularly limited, it’s remarkable to see one achieve such a high auction price, especially considering it isn’t completely stock. Whether this sets a new standard or remains an anomaly is uncertain, but the NSX's status as a modern classic is certainly not in question.
