On Tuesday morning, a Tesla dealership in Peabody, Massachusetts was vandalized.

A 28-year-old man allegedly poured paint on several vehicles, which had a combined value exceeding $500,000, leading to multiple charges against him.

While tariffs have been a hot topic in the news, animosity toward Elon Musk seems to endure. In fact, a Massachusetts man is reported to have damaged several cars at a Tesla dealership.

According to reports from Patch and NBC Boston, police responded to the Peabody Tesla at around 9 a.m. on Tuesday after receiving reports of paint being poured on electric vehicles. Following the incident, the suspect reportedly fled on foot.

The dealership's manager provided police with a description of the suspect, which initiated a chase that culminated in the arrest of 28-year-old Gardy Pierre.

Pierre is facing 11 charges of defacing property and one charge of disturbing the peace. Each charge of defacing property could result in a penalty of up to three years in prison, along with a fine of $1,500 or “not more than three times the value of the property so marked, injured, marred, defaced or destroyed.”

The charge of disturbing the peace is less severe, with a first offense carrying a fine of up to $150. However, Pierre may receive little leniency given the reported total value of the damaged vehicles, which exceeds $500,000.

While the motive behind this incident remains unclear, there has been a trend of Tesla stores and their owners facing backlash in recent months, likely linked to Elon Musk's connections with the Trump administration. He has laid off thousands of employees in his role related to government efficiency and has become a notable figure in discussions about the ‘billionaire takeover.’
