The flagship fuel cell sedan returns with enhanced features and a range of 402 miles.

Toyota is simplifying its Mirai sedan lineup by discontinuing the Limited trim.

The model will now be available solely in XLE configuration, which gains additional features. The price increases by $1,605 to $51,795, and purchasers will receive $15,000 worth of hydrogen.

The Toyota Mirai has always intrigued consumers as a luxury fuel cell sedan; however, its allure diminishes with the removal of the top-end Limited trim for 2025.

While Toyota has not provided a reason for this change, the model will now be exclusively offered in XLE format. On a positive note, the introduction of added standard features aims to satisfy customers.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much to excite buyers, as the new additions include heated exterior mirrors, digital key technology, and a Panoramic View Monitor. Additional features include front footwell lighting and front and rear parking assistance with automatic braking.

In addition to the aforementioned items, the Mirai is equipped with LED lighting and 19-inch aluminum wheels, heated SofTex front seats, dual 12.3-inch displays, and a wireless smartphone charger.

The standard Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite incorporates various driver assistance systems, including Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist. It also features Road Sign Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, and a Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

The Mirai is built on the GA-L platform and includes three hydrogen storage tanks, a fuel cell, a 1.24 kWh battery pack, and a 182 hp (136 kW / 185 PS) electric motor that powers the rear wheels. This combination allows the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 9.2 seconds and achieve an EPA-estimated 402 miles (647 km) between refuels.

Pricing begins at $51,795, plus a $1,095 destination fee. This represents a $1,605 increase, primarily justified by the added equipment.

The Mirai is currently available only in California, and customers will receive $15,000 worth of free hydrogen fuel. The vehicle also comes with an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty on essential fuel cell components and a “complimentary rental experience.” This rental offer allows owners up to 21 days in a rental car, enabling travel to regions lacking hydrogen refueling facilities.
