It seems the automotive deities have orchestrated yet another unusual collision, this time between a Ford Everest and a Jaguar F-Type in Brisbane, Australia. If you've ever wondered what transpires when a large SUV encounters a low-profile sports car, here's your answer.
The incident occurred earlier this month. Dashcam footage from the Jaguar, essentially providing a front-row view of a crash test, displays the F-Type standing still when it was struck. Spoiler alert: it wasn't the Jaguar's fault, although you wouldn't guess that from the visible damage.
It all began when a white VW T-Roc halted at an intersection to allow the Ford Everest to pass. The Jaguar was positioned behind the Volkswagen. As the Everest made a right turn, it unexpectedly accelerated. With the wheels still turned, the SUV crashed into the stationary F-Type and then struck a Chery Tiggo 4 Pro SUV behind it.
According to a report from our colleagues at CarExpert, another vehicle was approaching from the opposite direction, likely leading the Ford driver to panic and press the accelerator.
Dashcam footage shared by the Dash Cam Owners Australia page on Facebook clearly shows the extensive damage. The Jaguar will need a new bumper, headlight, hood, front fender, driver’s side door, and rear quarter panel, resulting in a substantial repair cost. And that's just the visible damage. Given the high cost of repairs these days, we’re going to venture a guess that this will be deemed a write-off.
As for the Everest, its right wheel was torn off during the collision, leaving the front bumper and right fender severely damaged. The driver of the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro, on the other hand, had a relatively easy escape, sustaining only minor scuffs on the front of their SUV.
Despite the seriousness of the crash, no injuries have been reported. Nevertheless, the driver of the Jaguar likely experienced a moment of sheer panic as they watched a Ford Everest awkwardly scale the long hood of the F-Type.
