      At first look, the RAK Magnetic Pickup Tool resembles a standard LED flashlight. However, it has an extendable head with a built-in magnet, enabling it to serve as a magnetic pickup tool. It stretches up to 22 inches, and a flexible part in its extension allows you to position the head however you choose. My testing of the RAK Magnetic Pickup Tool involved seeing how well it could pick up items and where, using it as a flashlight, and keeping it handy while working in the shop.

      Having an LED light on the head of the magnetic pickup tool is a really nice feature. It makes it much easier to see what you're doing and navigate tight areas. However, this does come with the downside of a larger head size, which can be cumbersome. It works effectively enough as a magnetic pickup tool, being strong enough to grab most items you might drop in hard-to-reach places, including some ratchets. The large head may limit access to certain areas, but it can definitely be utilized as an extendable flashlight to help maneuver compact pickup tools in dimly lit spaces.

      The flashlight paired with the extendable, flexible head is the standout feature of this tool. While typical flashlights are always handy, this tool can reach into awkward spots and illuminate things that are often hidden. Despite having only one lighting mode, it adds a functional dimension that many flashlights don’t offer. The magnetic base works well with this aspect.

      All in all, the RAK Magnetic Pickup Tool is a worthwhile choice as an impulse buy or a gift. It will be helpful in any workshop. The quality meets the expectations for flashlights in this price category. It is also too bulky to comfortably carry in your pocket for everyday use. However, it will have its value alongside your other magnetic pickup tools, thanks to its unique functionality that broadens its usability.

      It's a neat concept, but RAK isn’t the only brand featuring this product. These can be found at various tool retailers under many different names. This model is certainly as good as any you will find. This leads me to the main concern regarding price. RAK lists the retail price for this product at $26.99, with a current sale price of $18.99. While this is fairly standard, some similar models are available at a significantly lower price. Nevertheless, it’s hard to criticize it too harshly, as it genuinely offers enough utility to justify the sub-$20 cost.
