The new Karma Amaris represents the coupe variant of the forthcoming Gyesera sedan. Production for this model will commence next year and will utilize an EREV powertrain. The debut of the fully electric Kaveya has been delayed until 2027.

Karma Automotive has introduced its first two-door coupe, the Amaris, which is anticipated to enter production in Q4 2026. Built on the same platform as the upcoming Gyesera sedan, the Amaris is equipped with Karma’s EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) powertrain.

The Amaris incorporates several design elements from the Gyesera, especially at the front and rear, while presenting its own distinct profile. It features two prominent “swan doors” that open upwards and an “Americana-inspired” side exhaust, making quite an impression.

The coupe’s proportions, sculpted lines, and muscular fenders subtly echo Aston Martin’s design aesthetics, contributing to its polished yet bold presence.

At the rear, the descending roofline culminates in a striking tail with a unique design for the Amaris rear bumper. The coupe rides on a fresh set of 22-inch forged aluminum wheels referred to as “Constellation,” with its body construction comprising carbon fiber and aluminum.

      Powertrain & Performance

The Amaris is driven by an EREV powertrain, incorporating a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine that functions as a generator. While Karma has not released extensive details, the company indicated that this engine is larger than the 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine used in the Karma Revero.

Performance-wise, the Amaris is impressive, achieving acceleration from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 3.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 165 mph (266 km/h).

As you might expect from its design, the Karma Amaris is built on the same aluminum spaceframe architecture as the upcoming Gyesera sedan. For context, the Gyesera is a significant update to the Revero, which is itself a modern reinterpretation of the original Fisker Karma from 2011.

Although Karma initially presented the Gyesera as a fully electric vehicle, the company has since revised its plans. They have chosen to install an EREV powertrain and give it a refreshed design for a 2025 launch. This shift reflects the changing consumer preferences for electric vehicles, especially in the premium and ultra-luxury markets.

The same trend is influencing Karma’s other projects. The fully electric Kaveya flagship coupe, originally scheduled for a 2026 release, has now been postponed to 2027. Additionally, the Ivara GT-UV crossover, which may be an EV or PHEV, is expected to launch in the same year, thus broadening Karma’s portfolio.

Marques McCammon, President of Karma Automotive, stated: “Karma Automotive continues to lead in EREV powertrains, believing now more than ever that the ability to refuel with either gasoline or electricity is ideally suited to the market. With our stunning Amaris 2-door coupe and the soon-to-be-revealed Gyesera 4-door, we are creating a lineup of vehicles that will provide outstanding EV torque and performance combined with a worry-free cruising range, a capability unique to EREV.”
