President Trump has stated that he intends to purchase a Tesla as a gesture of “confidence and support for Elon Musk.”
He accused people of attempting to “illegally and collusively boycott Tesla” with the aim of harming Musk.
Trump has consistently criticized electric vehicles and government initiatives aimed at promoting them.
Tesla's stock has plummeted significantly, and sales are declining in various markets. On top of that, there have been numerous protests and acts of vandalism at Tesla locations nationwide.
This doesn’t bode well for the future, but beleaguered CEO Elon Musk is receiving some backing from President Trump. In a post on Truth Social, Trump remarked that “Elon Musk is ‘putting it on the line’ to assist our Nation, and he is doing a FANTASTIC JOB!”

While thousands of laid-off federal employees may have a different opinion, Trump asserted that the “Radical Left Lunatics, as they frequently do, are attempting to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla.” The President described Tesla as “one of the world’s great automakers” and stated that people oppose the brand in order to undermine Musk and “everything he stands for.”
Undoubtedly, that is the essence of a protest, and there’s nothing illegal about choosing not to buy a product that one does not wish to support. However, this has not deterred Musk from suing advertisers who have departed from his own social media platform.
Regardless, Trump announced his intention to purchase a new Tesla tomorrow morning as a “show of confidence and support for Elon Musk.” He further claimed that the South African-born billionaire is a “truly great American” who should not be penalized for his efforts to “make America great again.”
It remains uncertain whether Trump will actually buy a Tesla, and if he does, it could be seen as hypocritical given his frequent criticisms of electric vehicles and his efforts to reduce government support for them. Nevertheless, this seems more like a bid for attention and theatrics.
