Kia's upcoming electric PV5 pickup is expected to offer both single- and dual-motor configurations and is tailored for commercial clients to meet business demands. It will utilize Kia's e-CCPM platform, although specific technical details are yet to be revealed.

The first comprehensive look at the Kia PV5 van will be unveiled on February 27. Prior to this official unveiling, spy photos have emerged of an unanticipated variant that might disrupt the commercial EV sector. While Kia has teased the Passenger Van and Cargo Van versions so far, this prototype shows a compact flatbed truck, suggesting that Kia intends to cover a wide range of needs with its new EV lineup.

This camouflaged prototype was captured during winter testing in Europe. Although the front has been obscured, it appears very similar to the van versions of the PV5. Kia's engineers have concealed the unique LED daytime running lights, but the main headlights, positioned lower on the front, are visible.

Additionally, the prototype features a small hood like the van, along with identical wing mirrors and compact corner windows found behind the A-pillars. The familiar design extends along the side, maintaining the same doors and side windows as the van. However, while the previously revealed PV5 models are vans, this prototype replaces the rear cab with a sizable bed.

Clearly aimed at commercial customers, this PV5 includes a cage behind the front cab and features a bed that appears to be at least five feet long, extending well beyond the rear axle for practicality in transporting large loads.

All Kia PV5 models will utilize the brand’s Electric Complete Chassis Platform Module (e-CCPM), but Kia has not disclosed crucial technical specifics, such as battery size and power output. It is anticipated that the base models will feature a small electric motor on the front axle, while other variations may include an additional electric motor on the rear.
