You can say a lot about the Jeep Wrangler TJ, but referring to it as a powerhouse might lead to some confused faces. It's not that the original four-cylinder or 4.0-liter inline-six engines were poor performers, but they were definitely not fast. Thankfully, I've yet to hear anyone describe a stock TJ as a hot rod, and for years, enthusiasts have been swapping in larger engines. I've encountered Hemi V8s and LS engines under the hoods of various models, but this one listed on Bring a Trailer goes even further with a Viper V10.

This is a thorough build that has only covered 2,200 miles since the engine swap. Connected to the 8.3-liter powerhouse is a four-speed automatic transmission, which can drive either the rear wheels or all four, thanks to its dual-range transfer case. The axles used are Dana 60s, the driveshafts are crafted from chromoly, and the braking system consists of discs all around. What I'm emphasizing is that they didn't just cram the engine in and call it finished.

The suspension system is also more than just a lift kit. It features a long-arm design with Dirt Logic coilovers in the front, in addition to adjustable sway bars and Pro Comp shocks in the rear. It likely handles better than a standard TJ, but don’t confuse it with a sports car; it still rides on 35-inch BFGoodrich tires.

There’s plenty of classic hot rod style present here, from the aftermarket window cranks reminiscent of customized ’60s muscle cars to the red roll cage and four-point harnesses inside. The gauges in the center console take me back to the quarter-mile racers I used to see at Mo-Kan Dragway. Notably, since the dash has been replaced, there are no passenger airbags, so be aware of that if you're taking a friend for a ride—it’s still a high-clearance Wrangler and will tip more dramatically than a standard one.

In the comments, the seller mentions that the build was completed a few years ago. The choice of modifications supports that notion, as it has the feel of something from a decade ago. Clarion touchscreen head unit? Check. Boston Acoustics subwoofers and amplifier in the trunk? Absolutely. And this isn't a criticism of the Jeep; as long as it has a Viper engine under the hood and sufficiently large brakes for stopping power, I couldn't care less if it was painted pink with Plastidipped wheels.

You have until early next week to place a bid… and remember to update your life insurance policy.
