The second model in Alpine's new all-electric lineup was introduced through the A390_β concept in October 2024, and the production version will remain closely related to this initial design.

Alpine is preparing for further growth with the debut of the A390 on May 27.

Ahead of the launch, a teaser image of the crossover has been shared.

The production version will come equipped with a dual-motor powertrain and feature torque vectoring.

If you're in search of a family-friendly vehicle that genuinely excites you, mark your calendar for May 27. That’s when Alpine will unveil its second electric vehicle, the A390. If it resembles the concept shown last year, it promises to be quite remarkable.

The four-seat, low-slung crossover (referred to by Alpine as a “sport fastback”) is the second of three electric models in Alpine’s Dream Garage series. The other two include the award-winning A290 hot hatch unveiled in 2024 and the upcoming new A110.

In a related note, Alpine has shared a teaser image that confirms the launch date, showcasing a silhouetted close-up of the front design, which closely mirrors that of the A390_β concept. The image highlights a horizontal light bar with the Alpine name beneath it, accompanied by 12 triangle-shaped LED daytime running lights arranged in a larger triangle shape at each corner.

It appears that the production models will keep the “flying bridge” nose seen in the concept, where the section of bodywork with the light bar is raised above the hood's leading edge, likely for aerodynamic reasons.

Alpine had previously mentioned that the A390_β concept was 85 percent representative of the final production model, and spy photos have confirmed that the overall silhouette and side window design will remain largely unchanged. However, a significant portion of the remaining 15 percent that won’t be found in showrooms is in the interior.

The A390_β concept featured rear-hinged back doors, no B-pillar or carpets, and seats reminiscent of those in the company’s Le Mans racer. The final model will be more refined, yet still retain a sporty vibe. We expect to see a lot of Alcantara or similar materials and ample screen space.

The front end of the A390_β concept closely resembles the production model.

Beneath the exterior, the vehicle will utilize the Renault Group AmpR Medium architecture, formerly known as the CMF-EV platform, which is also employed in vehicles like the Renault Megane E-Tech. While this may seem unimpressive, Alpine assures that the A390 will have torque vectoring for enhanced agility and could achieve over 600 hp (608 PS / 447 kW) in its most performance-focused configurations.

The A390 is expected to become available for purchase in Europe by late 2025, but although Alpine plans to expand into the US market with larger crossovers and SUVs, the A290 and A390 will not be making the transition.
