Chinese manufacturer BYD has announced plans to equip 21 different models with its driver-assist systems, linked to DeepSeek AI learning.

The company states that its ‘God’s Eye’ driver-assist technology will be available in vehicles priced as low as $9,600. Over 20 models will incorporate this smart driving technology, including the Seagull hatchback.

The ‘God’s Eye’ system comes in three tiers, with the top two versions utilizing Lidar sensors.

In addition to making electric vehicles affordable, BYD aims to make driver-assist technology more accessible. Today, the Chinese automaker introduced its new ‘God’s Eye’ systems, promising to include them in 21 models in China, including the Seagull SUV, which is priced under $10k.

CEO Wang Chuanfu announced during a live-streamed event that while this does not imply that BYD will release a fully self-driving car for under $10k, the “God’s Eye” technology suite comes in various versions, some of which are more sophisticated than others. The company’s commitment to introducing such technology in cars previously deemed too inexpensive for it is likely to significantly impact the industry.

According to Car News China, at least 21 BYD models will feature the God’s Eye system, which will include all cars priced above ¥X100,000 ($13,960), along with some models priced below this threshold, such as the ¥69,800 ($9,550) Seagull. The basic version of the system, known as God’s Eye C, utilizes 12 cameras (three front-view, five panoramic, and four surround-view) in conjunction with 17 radar sensors.

The God’s Eye B version is more advanced and incorporates a Lidar sensor. It is primarily intended for higher-end BYD vehicles, but will also be featured in Denza and Fang Cheng Bao models, as stated in the report.

The premium ‘A’ version of God’s Eye is equipped with three Lidar sensors and is designated for BYD’s Yangwang brand, which produced the U9 supercar showcased in a promotional video. In a follow-up to that video, BYD demonstrated the capabilities of the God’s Eye A technology by allowing a U9 to navigate a racetrack autonomously.

The report indicates that the God’s Eye C system can provide navigation-based assistance primarily on highways, whereas the A and B versions are capable of city driving as well. This level of functionality surpasses that of Mercedes’ Level 3 Drive Pilot system, currently the most advanced ADAS in the West, according to regulatory standards. All versions will reportedly connect to the DeepSeek AI technology, which caused Nvidia shares to drop significantly last month.
