Owners of specific Ford and Lincoln vehicles affected by the recalls will be notified by mail this month.

The first recall involves the Ford Expedition, Super Duty, and Lincoln Corsair models. Ford is currently working on a solution for the faulty rear-view cameras in these vehicles. A second recall has been issued for newer models that have issues with their digital instrument clusters.

Ford has announced two new recalls in the U.S. to start the year. Despite having passed the title of the brand with the most vehicle recalls to Tesla last year, Ford remains the leader in the number of cars requiring dealership visits for repairs. Therefore, the company is likely eager to resolve these issues swiftly to avoid further negative publicity.

The initial recall, which is the most significant, was issued on January 31 and involves the Ford Expedition, Ford Super Duty, and Lincoln Corsair. A total of 72,624 vehicles must be returned to dealerships due to rear-view cameras that may intermittently display a blank or distorted image while reversing. With numerous brands recalling thousands of vehicles in the U.S. regularly for similar problems, it’s critical for drivers to rely on their mirrors and not depend entirely on the camera when reversing.

According to Ford, about 2% of the recalled vehicles have the issue. The affected 2021 Ford Expedition models were manufactured from January 4, 2021, to March 31, 2021, while the impacted 2021-2022 Ford Super Duty models were built from February 1, 2021, to May 30, 2021. Owners of Lincoln Corsairs produced from October 1, 2020, to August 31, 2021, will also receive notifications regarding the recall.

Notifications will start on February 17, although a remedy is still being developed. While this may be bothersome, it appears to be a relatively simple issue to resolve.

Regarding a smaller recall for a digital cluster issue, the second recall affects only 298 vehicles, including the 2025 Ford Bronco Sport models manufactured from November 29, 2024, to December 13, 2024, and the 2025 Ford Escapes built from December 6, 2024, to December 13, 2024. Additionally, new 2025 Lincoln Corsair models produced from December 6, 2024, to December 18, 2024, are also included.

In this instance, the digital instrument cluster may fail to illuminate at startup or while driving, thus violating Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Ford attributes this problem to improperly installed Kapton tape during the assembly of the cluster, resulting in some circuit board components being exposed and potentially short-circuiting if they contact a flex cable.

Ford plans to notify affected owners by February 10, and those with impacted vehicles will need to visit their nearest Ford or Lincoln dealer for a free replacement of the instrument cluster.
