The new model will feature three rows of seating while aiming to maintain affordability.
Recently, many design elements of the L80 have drawn inspiration from the L60 SUV.
Nio and Onvo have not confirmed any technical specifications for the new model yet.
Onvo is expected to reveal the new model this quarter, with a launch planned for May.
Nio has just introduced the L60, its first electric vehicle under the Onvo sub-brand, and is already planning its next release. The L80, anticipated to compete with popular compact crossovers like the Tesla Model Y, is in development, and new renderings provide a sneak peek.
A recent spy shot of the L80 has surfaced in Chinese media, showing a heavily camouflaged prototype covered in black cladding. Although the camouflage conceals many of the design details, it is clear that the L80 is significantly larger than the L60, which it will be sold alongside. Unlike the L60, which seats five, the L80 will include three rows and will be available in configurations accommodating six or seven passengers.
These renderings from Sugar Design illustrate the potential appearance of the vehicle. Similar to the L60, it may feature split headlights with separate LED daytime running lights along the hood, while the main headlights are positioned lower. Given that the L80 has three rows of seating, it's expected that the roof is more upright than that of the L60 and extends further back to enhance interior space.
The rear design of the L80 is quite similar to that of the L60, featuring rounded LED taillights and a sleek black lower bumper. While the design isn't entirely new, these aspects offer a familiar yet polished look consistent with Onvo's design identity.
Currently, specific technical information regarding the L80 is limited. However, CarNewsChina indicates that Nio intends to unveil the vehicle before the end of the first quarter, suggesting that a full reveal may happen in the coming weeks. With everything on schedule, the L80 could launch in China as soon as May.
