First Genuine Spy Shots of the Electric 2027 Jaguar Type 00 Sedan Surface | Carscoops
The production version of last December's bold concept features a lengthy wheelbase, a low roofline, and lacks a rear window.
Jaguar's Type 00 electric sedan has been spotted undergoing testing in snowy Sweden.
The 2027 EV is the finalized iteration of the contentious Type 00 concept.
Jaguar had previously released its own 'spy' images but only shared three pictures.
Although Jaguar was prominent in the news towards the end of 2024, it hasn't slowed down since then. The research and development team has been rigorously testing the new Type 00 electric sedan, and we've obtained the first images of it in action in Sweden.
This elongated four-door EV represents the production model of Jaguar's controversial Type 00 coupe concept that was introduced in Miami last December. You might remember that Jaguar had earlier shared some images of a camouflaged prototype just before the concept was revealed, but those only included three images, none showing the rear of the vehicle.
Now, we have a complete set of photos showcasing the Bentley-competing EV from all perspectives, including the rear, confirming the absence of a back window. The bulky camouflage on the roof and around the area where the rear window would typically be makes this prototype appear more bulky and formal than it actually is.
Anticipate a sleek dropping roofline and streamlined rear when the production vehicle is unveiled this fall, ahead of its 2026 sales date—unless that XJ-S flying buttress appearance around the C/D-pillars is merely disguise...
These images also provide a clearer perspective on the vehicle's dimensions and proportions. While most EVs feature extended wheelbases and push the wheels to the corners while moving the passenger cell forward, Jaguar has opted for a different approach, instead mirroring the proportions of a classic cab-backward, front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sedan or GT.
There’s ample space between the door and front wheel for a sizable square charging flap. We’re uncertain about the size, but we know there’s one on each side. The prototype also includes flush door handles, and the shutlines indicate that this sedan is likely a liftback.
The front and rear grilles are not visible, which, based on reactions to the concept, might be the elements needing refinement before this model can make its showroom debut. The interior remains unseen during this occasion (the concept featured a dual-screen arrangement), and we are still awaiting details on the mechanical specifications. However, it is known that Jaguar aims for a WLTP range of up to 770 km (478 miles) and ultra-rapid charging that can provide 321 km (200 miles) in just 15 minutes.
