The seller and the buyer were reportedly en route to a local bank to cash the sale check six hours ago.

A new Corvette buyer crashed the car five minutes after the purchase, skidding off the road.

The driver seemingly lost control on slippery surfaces, causing the vehicle to end up in a ditch.

The sports car incurred significant damage to both its suspension and body.

Operating a powerful, rear-wheel-drive sports car in sub-zero temperatures isn’t exactly conducive to success—especially for young, inexperienced drivers. Nevertheless, that’s exactly what transpired in a strange incident in the U.S. recently, where a newly sold, bright red C6 Chevrolet Corvette flew off the side of a highway. The situation escalated quickly, and not in anyone's expectations.

According to the seller who recounted the incident on a Reddit post, the buyer had secured a loan to buy the Corvette and brought a check with him. They were heading to a nearby bank to cash it. However, things changed when the new owner accelerated a bit too eagerly. The car lost traction and slid off the road, crashing into a grassy embankment.

Dashcam footage from a vehicle behind shows the moment the rear wheels of the Corvette lost grip. During a lane change, the car skidded uncontrollably, sliding sideways across the road before finally halting. Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved, but the car did not escape undamaged. It veered off the road and collided with multiple trees, resulting in substantial damage.

The aftermath was not pleasant. Several body panels were scratched or severely dented, and at least one front quarter panel was entirely split in half. However, the primary concern is the potential suspension damage, which, considering the severity of the crash, could lead to expensive repair costs.

In the footage, one of the individuals (presumably the new owner) can be heard asking, “How much is that going to cost?” Someone quickly replies, “Like $3k.” However, we suspect that fixing this Corvette will cost significantly more, especially if panels need replacement or repair.

This incident serves as an important reminder about the necessity of exercising caution when driving in slippery conditions, especially when behind the wheel of a high-powered vehicle lacking the appropriate tires. While rear-wheel-drive sports cars are exhilarating to drive, they can be unforgiving in severe weather conditions.
