The Charger EV Continues to Struggle with Sales, Leading Dodge to Increase Prices by More than $12,000 | Carscoops
Dodge has unveiled the 2027 model year Charger Daytona Scat Pack.
The Charger sedan is priced just $500 more than the coupe version.
This electric vehicle is equipped with a new North American Charging System (NACS) port compatible with Tesla Superchargers.
Although 2026 is still weeks away, Dodge has begun taking orders for the 2027 Charger Daytona Scat Pack, with a starting price of $72,495, representing a significant increase.
The information on Dodge's website is somewhat unclear, but it appears that the 2026 Charger Daytona Scat Pack Coupe had a starting price of $59,995, while the sedan added another $2,000. This indicates a price jump of $12,500 for entry, even though the sedan now only costs an additional $500.
This price surge is surprising given the lack of demand for an electric Charger and the ongoing struggle with unsold 2025 models. Dealers nationwide are even offering brand new 2025 Charger Daytonas for under $40,000.
While Dodge seems to be discouraging sales, the 2027 Charger Daytona will feature a native NACS port, allowing compatibility with Tesla Superchargers, and the company is including a J1772 to NACS AC adapter as well.
Dodge mentioned that more information would be available next year but did not specify any other changes. This lack of clarity isn't particularly reassuring, but the automaker has labeled the Charger Daytona as the "world’s most powerful muscle car."
The vehicle offers a dual-motor all-wheel drive system delivering 630 hp (470 kW / 639 PS) and 627 lb-ft (849 Nm) of torque. Additionally, a PowerShot function can boost the power to 670 hp (500 kW / 679 PS) for ten seconds at a time. Buyers can also anticipate a range of up to 267 miles (430 km), suggesting that charging stops will be quite frequent.
