Pirelli Has Made It Personal With The Porsche 911 GT3 | Carscoops
It remains uncertain how much this custom rubber will cost Porsche owners.
Pirelli has introduced new road and track tires specifically for the Porsche 911 GT3. The front and rear tires feature different structures to enhance handling. Additionally, the company produces tailored rubber for Porsche models, including the GT3 RS.
For owners of the Porsche 911 GT3 in search of new street or track tires, Pirelli may have just provided an early holiday surprise. The brand has launched two specially designed versions of its P Zero R and P Zero Trofeo RS, both customized for the latest GT3.
Both tire types are engineered to maximize the performance capabilities of what is one of Porsche’s most focused and driver-oriented models.
Kicking off is the P Zero R, a road performance tire. Pirelli has formulated a new compound specifically for the 911 GT3, claiming it now offers exceptional grip on various surfaces and conditions, including wet weather.
The P Zero R has a broad temperature operating range, and notably, the structure differs slightly between the front and rear tires. This design allows Pirelli to achieve outstanding steering precision at the front while enhancing control at the rear.
Next is the new P Zero Trofeo RS, designed to deliver top-tier track performance. Pirelli was commissioned to create custom P Zero Trofeo RS tires for the 911 GT3 RS and has applied insights gained from that model to develop new tires for the standard GT3.
All Porsche-specific Pirelli tires bear the N designation, indicating their bespoke quality. Pricing information has not yet been disclosed, but considering the brand and market segment, significant cost savings are unlikely to be expected.
Pirelli notes that they utilized virtualization tools extensively during the development process, resulting in a reduction of time and prototype usage by approximately 30 percent. Whether this efficiency will be reflected in the final pricing remains to be seen.
