The latest car news and reviews, without the fluff

Our free daily newsletter delivers the stories that truly matter to you every weekday.

Let's pour one out for Zilvia.net. The longstanding Nissan S-Chassis (240SX, 180SX, Silvia) forum was, until recently, an invaluable resource for owners seeking project advice, parts swaps, and more. After being active for nearly three decades, Zilvia.net held a wealth of knowledge and stories within its threads. Its closure is a significant loss for the car community and serves as a reminder that digital content is not everlasting.

This week, members who logged into the forum did not find new posts, build threads, or cars for sale. Instead, they encountered a message indicating the site’s permanent shutdown at every link.

      The notice stated:

“Zilvia.net has been permanently closed. In December 2025, an unauthorized entity gained access to forum account data and made it public. The exposed data included usernames, email addresses, IP addresses, and salted MD5 password hashes. No financial details or other sensitive personal information were stored on the site.

The forum is now offline and will not return. If you used the same password on any other site or service, please change it as a precaution.

A read-only static archive of the forum’s publicly visible content may be available in the future, but there are no plans or timeline for this.

Zilvia.net was established in 1998 and remained operational for over twenty years due to a grassroots community of members who engaged, contributed, and shaped its success. Many incredible friendships, connections, and even families emerged from the community that developed here. The vast knowledge, expertise, and willingness to support one another defined this place and influenced countless projects throughout the years. The primarily Nissan S-Chassis focus attracted one of the most passionate grassroots groups of enthusiasts, and it was a privilege for Zilvia.net to be a part of that narrative.

I am truly saddened to see it come to an end and am immensely grateful to everyone who dedicated their time, knowledge, and enthusiasm over the years.

With deep appreciation, thank you to the Zilvia.net community for everything.”

As of December 5, 2025, here’s what every link to Zilvia.net displayed, captured here for historical reference.

It suggests that a hacking incident occurred, but details on what exactly transpired with the site or if another host will take it over remain unclear. There have been discussions in Facebook groups indicating that other forum owners have attempted to help, and at least one group (titled “Zilvia 2.0”) has emerged where an admin expressed a desire to “keep some of the vibe and knowledge base alive,” so there is some hope for the information that was hosted within the forum. However, nothing is certain at this stage.

You can access some parts of the site through the Internet Archive, although it is incomplete and not very effective.

According to my Gmail records, I had been a Zilvia member since 2017, nearly 20 years after the site’s launch in 1998, the same year I was born. I may have joined relatively late in its existence, but like many Nissan fans, I had referenced Zilvia threads long before creating an account. With classic cars, repairs are a constant necessity, and with every Google search for any 240SX issue imaginable, there was always a kind stranger from across the country who had already resolved it and was eager to assist.

Before Facebook groups, forums were the go-to. These straightforward, basic sites were more than mere discussion boards—they served as the foundation for ambitious builds and genuine friendships. It all began with a search: “Why aren’t my pop-up headlights functioning?” “S14 wheel fitment pictures,” “Upgrading my SR20DET.”

Then a thread would evolve, with participants from around the globe sharing their insights and experiences. Our dedication to the chassis transformed Zilvia into a daily habit for many—almost akin to checking email. This level of commitment made it inevitable to forge friendships with the original poster (OP) over time.

Several of the S-Chassis cars I have owned over the years.

The collective knowledge found in Zilvia’s database exceeded what could be found in the original Nissan 240SX service manual. It's disheartening to acknowledge that the richest source of S-Chassis wisdom is suddenly gone—taking with it all the images, diagrams, and guides. While I can no longer revisit 240guy92104’s iconic write-up on swapping an S14 differential into an S13, I’m grateful that much of that information lives on elsewhere. YouTube, Facebook groups, Reddit, and Discord now serve as the new homes for much of the Zilvia community.

Nevertheless, the loss of Zilvia feels like losing a part of S

The Zilvia.net forums have been operating for many years and, until recently, served as an extensive source of information on S-Chassis.
