Rivian Transforms Unique Miami Showcase Into An Expensive Limited Edition | Carscoops
Rivian has decided to produce a limited run of its Miami-inspired R1S, which was initially showcased as a one-off in September.
Only 10 units of the R1S Quad Miami Edition will be available for purchase.
Priced at $134,990, the Miami Edition costs $13,000 more than a standard quad-motor R1S.
If you recall from September, Rivian's designers introduced a playful R1S to celebrate the opening of a new store in South Florida. They created a unique concept SUV featuring a 1980s Miami-inspired paint job, reminiscent of the aesthetic from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
However, this tropical dream will no longer be a one-off. Rivian has confirmed plans to produce a limited number of purchasable versions. Of course, owning one of these colorful specials comes with a price tag.
What Makes it Unique?
Named the R1S Quad Miami Edition, this vibrant SUV is based on the high-performance quad-motor R1S, while the original concept was based on the three-motor R1S Tri model. However, the playful visual theme remains unchanged, appealing to fans of quirky designs.
Only 10 units will be manufactured, each featuring a Glacier White body highlighted by aqua and pink accents on the doors, 22-inch Miami Edition wheels, and a customized front bumper. The doors showcase aqua blue stripes, while the wheels and front bumper incorporate both colors, with a pink towing eye distinctly emerging from the blue bumper.
Even the interior has been given a Miami touch, though it appears Rivian may have lost some enthusiasm in that area. The only notable enhancements are a pink stripe on the headrest and some floor mats that resemble straw beach mats (though we hope they are more durable).
With four electric motors instead of three, the Miami Edition boasts 1,025 hp (1,039 PS / 764 kW), compared to the 850 hp (862 PS / 634 kW) of the standard model, reducing the 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) time from 2.9 seconds to just 2.6 seconds. However, you may not have much chance to appreciate the difference while cruising around South Beach.
The Cost of Standing Out
The eye-catching graphics will surely attract more attention than any standard R1S Tri or Quad, and given the price increase, they certainly should.
Rivian is pricing the Miami Edition at $134,990, which is $13,000 higher than a regular R1S Quad. With only 10 available, it’s likely that they will sell quickly, but do you think it’s worth the price?
