The Seltos has undergone a transformation with more aggressive styling, advanced technology, and a likely self-charging hybrid variant.

Kia plans to reveal the next-gen Seltos SUV on December 10.

The revamped Seltos features a boxier design and more defined lines.

It is anticipated to offer both gasoline and hybrid powertrains.

Kia has released the first official teasers for the second-generation Seltos, announcing its global debut on December 10. This subcompact SUV, positioned just below the Sportage in Kia’s lineup, has been completely redesigned and is expected to include a hybrid powertrain.

Originally launched in 2019 and updated in 2022, the Seltos now steps into its second generation with a comprehensive redesign aimed at maintaining competitiveness in a busy market.

The teasers highlight the boxier profile noted in earlier prototypes, showcasing sharper contours influenced by Kia’s "Opposites United" design philosophy.

      Emphasizing EV Design Elements

The company states that the new Seltos “merges the tough legacy of past internal combustion engine SUVs with the sleek, aerodynamic sophistication of Kia’s most recent electric vehicles.” This is evident in the slim vertical LED headlights that frame a broader grille featuring integrated daytime running lights.

The elevated beltline and floating roofline resemble the all-electric Kia EV5, mirrored in the arrangement of horizontal and vertical LED taillights. It also includes flush door handles, contemporary mirrors, and aluminum accents on the roof and skid plates.

Customers will again have the option for rugged X-Line or sportier GT-Line trims, each presenting subtle design variations.

      Subcompact SUV Evolution

While Kia has not yet disclosed the complete dimensions, the new Seltos appears to be slightly larger than the current version, which is 4,365 mm (171.9 inches) long. This modest expansion is likely to lead to a more spacious interior and enhanced practicality.

No interior teasers have been revealed yet, but Kia assures that it will have a “high-tech character,” suggesting the inclusion of its latest digital dashboard, new materials, and improved driver-assistance technologies.

Powertrain options are expected to encompass gasoline and hybrid models, potentially alongside an e-AWD configuration. The lineup may feature an updated turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine along with the self-charging hybrid system shared with the related Hyundai Kona and Kia Niro.

The Seltos will continue to be a global offering, catering to various markets. Its new generation could also be introduced in Europe, available just below the Sportage. Complete details will be disclosed when Kia officially launches the 2026 Seltos on December 10.
