The BMW M340i xDrive 50 Jahre Edition is limited to 100 units available in Canada.
Six exclusive colors pay homage to past iterations of the 3-Series.
It features 20-inch wheels, an M Exhaust, and unique anniversary badges.
The BMW 3-Series is gearing up for its Neue Klasse transformation, which will align it with the next-generation i3 sedan. Before this new chapter begins, however, BMW Canada is celebrating the occasion with the 50 Jahre Edition, a special version of the M340i xDrive designed to mark 50 years of the 3-Series nameplate.
This edition reflects the model’s 50-year history through a thoughtfully chosen color palette of six shades, each representing a different generation of the 3-Series. Apart from the new color options, BMW has maintained most of the existing features.
The color options include Madeira Red Metallic, Laguna Green Metallic, Avus Blue Metallic, Carbon Black Metallic, Deep Green Metallic, and Citrin Black Metallic, all from BMW’s Individual catalog, showcasing the evolution from the original E21 to the current G20.
Additionally, the 50 Jahre Edition comes fully equipped with the M body kit and a set of 20-inch forged alloy wheels with a Y-spoke design. Exclusive “50 Jahre Edition” badging decorates the tailgate, and the M Performance exhaust enhances the sound of the turbocharged inline-six engine.
Inside, the cabin features Merino leather from the BMW Individual collection, available in either black or white. A brushed metal plaque inscribed with “3-Series 50 Jahre Edition” is located on the cupholder cover, complemented by matching door-sill plates.
As expected, there are no modifications to the engine, which is unnecessary as the M340i performs exceptionally well. The turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine still delivers 386 horsepower (288 kW / 391 PS) and 398 lb-ft (540 Nm) of torque. This power is transmitted to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission and BMW’s rear-biased xDrive system.
Performance remains unchanged from the standard M340i xDrive, achieving a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time of 4.3 seconds, making it the fastest 3-Series short of the full M3.
Production of the BMW M340i xDrive 50 Jahre Edition will commence in Germany this month, with just 100 units designated for the Canadian market.
