A New Challenger for the Title of the World's Coolest Police Car | Carscoops
The 621 hp Maserati MCPura has been integrated into the Carabinieri's service for organ transportation responsibilities.
Maserati delivered a new MCPura supercar to Italy's Carabinieri, which is equipped with police livery, flashing lights, and enhanced interior features.
This unique model will swiftly transport blood and organs across Italy.
Maserati revealed the MCPura this summer, and it is now serving with the Carabinieri, marking a significant first for the brand.
As a reminder, the MCPura can be seen as an upgraded version of the MC20, sporting a different name. It incorporates a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis and a twin-turbo 3.0-liter Nettuno V6 engine that generates 621 hp (470 kW / 630 PS) and 538 lb-ft (730 Nm) of torque.
The engine is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that transmits power to the rear wheels, allowing the 3,252 lb (1,475 kg) supercar to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 2.9 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 199 mph (320 km/h).
While this performance may be excessive for most police forces, this MCPura is designed to race against time in critical life-or-death situations, specifically for the "urgent transportation of organs and blood."
To support its vital mission, the vehicle is adorned with a traditional Carabinieri livery and fitted with emergency lights on both the roof and bumpers.
Additionally, the interior has seen minor modifications, offering new switchgear, carbon fiber trim, and Sabelt seats clad in microfiber upholstery. There also appears to be specialized equipment intended to help preserve organs during transport.
Alongside the Maserati, the Carabinieri also received a new Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, which boasts a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine delivering 513 hp (382 kW / 520 PS). This model features a sport-tuned suspension, a mechanical locking rear differential, and carbon fiber detailing.
