Ford Reaches 120 Recalls Even Before the Year Ends | Carscoops

The Mustang has been affected by two recalls, while the Bronco, Ranger, and F-Series lineup are dealing with their own set of problems.

Ford has announced four recalls that impact almost 625,000 vehicles. The largest of these affects 332,778 Mustangs in regions with cold weather, and another recall pertains to nearly 292,000 Super Duty trucks.

After a brief pause, Ford's recall issues have surged again, adding four more to the total, bringing the Blue Oval's recall count to 120 campaigns for this year alone, significantly surpassing General Motors by 100 recalls.

Given the number of recalls, we'll keep it concise. The most significant affects 332,778 Mustangs from the 2015-2017 model years. The problem originated in 2023 and was first identified by Transport Canada.

This recall impacts cold weather states such as Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.

The issue relates to water and road salt that can corrode the front seat belt anchor pretensioner cables over time, potentially weakening the cables and increasing injury risks in a crash.

The pretensioner assembly can come in contact with carpeting and underlayment, which may become wet and soaked with a mixture of water and road salt. To resolve this, dealers will remove some carpeting and underlayment, inspecting and replacing the seat belt assemblies as needed. However, a solution is not anticipated until January 2026.

The second recall affects 291,901 F-250, F-350, and F-450 pickups from the 2020-2022 production years. These vehicles feature a 360-degree camera system that might not display a proper rearview image under certain lighting conditions.

According to the government, substantial differences in lighting among the cameras can create exposure inconsistencies in the composite view, leading the automatic exposure compensation system to malfunction and produce “severely underexposed or overexposed” images.

To address this recall, dealers will update the image processing module software, although this update is not expected to be available until March.

In another issue, nine Broncos and Rangers may have windshields that can come loose in the event of an accident. The few 2025 models had windshields installed using paint masking tape to keep the glass separate from the frame.

This problem has been attributed to plant workers who “failed to consistently remove the painted masking tape from the windshield frames during … final assembly.” Ford became aware of the issue after a customer reported a protruding seal or sticker from their truck.

As part of the recall, dealership technicians will remove the windshields along with any remaining masking tape and subsequently reinstall the windshields.

Lastly, there is another Mustang recall concerning three vehicles from the 2021-2023 model years, aimed at resolving a previous failed recall, as dealership equipment may not have uploaded the correct software to these vehicles.

The initial recall was related to a Body Control Module with an incorrect configuration, which prevents the vehicle from running brake fluid sensor diagnostics, thus failing to notify customers of low brake fluid levels.

Because of this error, a small number of customers will need to return to the dealership to have new body control module software installed, hopefully the correct version this time.
