Farmers and tradespeople in the UK can now enjoy a blend of premium features and practicality with the latest D-Max.

Isuzu has transformed its flagship D-Max into a two-seat commercial utility vehicle. This rugged pickup is equipped with a canopy, seat covers, and a standard tow bar. The starting price is £41,995 ($56,500), which is higher than the top-tier V-Cross model.

When envisioning a commercial midsize truck, one might think of something strictly utilitarian: unpainted bumpers, steel wheels, and an interior that prioritizes durability over comfort. However, Isuzu recognizes that those engaged in demanding work might appreciate some comfort as well, which is why they have launched the full-spec D-Max V-Cross Commercial for the UK market.

This new variant builds on the V-Cross trim but has been tailored for professional users. Isuzu states that it is aimed at farmers, tradespeople, and construction workers who spend equal time on job sites and on the road.

The exterior resembles the standard D-Max V-Cross, featuring Bi-LED headlights, Dark Grey accents, and matching 18-inch alloy wheels. The Commercial model, however, is set apart by a lightweight bed canopy that shields the cargo area from the weather. Additional features include a tow bar and a bed liner.

Despite having a dual-cab design, the interior is configured for two passengers. The area where the rear seats are typically found has been converted into a secure loading space.

The rear windows are tinted, and the front seats are fitted with protective covers. Isuzu states that this modification is permanent, ensuring that the vehicle is registered as a commercial truck.

Standard features include a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, an eight-speaker audio system, leather seating, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a Rough Terrain mode, and an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite.

The ladder-frame underpinnings remain unchanged, with the Commercial variant maintaining a 1-tonne (2,204 lbs) payload capacity and a 3.5-tonne (7,716 lbs) towing capacity, identical to the passenger variant.

Powering the D-Max is the well-known 1.9-liter turbodiesel engine, the sole engine option available in the UK, producing 162 hp (121 kW / 164 PS) and 360 Nm (265.5 lb-ft) of torque. This engine is paired with an automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system that includes a rear differential lock. The more powerful 3.0-liter turbodiesel is not offered in this market.

Pricing for the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross Commercial starts at £41,995 ($56,500) before taxes, with the first customer deliveries expected in the UK and Northern Ireland in November. For context, the entry-level D-Max Utility begins at £27,755 ($37,300), while the passenger V-Cross is priced at £38,255 ($51,400).
