People often come up with innovative ways to bypass the law, and some of the more amusing methods include hand-drawn artwork. A recent example involves a Nissan Sentra driver in California who was pulled over after a California Highway Patrol officer noticed something odd about the rear license plate. Well, would you look at that.

To be honest, the artwork isn’t too shabby. It might be convincing enough to fool casual observers or perhaps even a law enforcement officer from a distance, but take a closer look and you’re definitely caught. If I were to create a fake license plate, I’d probably print one from the internet and use it as a stencil to make sure the font matches perfectly. Not entirely sure how I’d achieve that metallic look, though.

The CHP didn’t provide many specifics about the traffic stop in its report, only mentioning that they awarded the driver “points for creativity.” It seems the vehicle’s owner wasn’t attempting to deceive the police for any illicit reasons; rather, their original plate had gone missing, and they believed this was the best method for replacement.

Additionally, can we highlight that their spare tire is secured—albeit improperly—with what looks like a rear seatbelt or a hefty nylon strap? Any creativity points the driver earned should be taken away for this poor spare tire arrangement.

      Stay safe out there, everyone.

Although the hand-drawn license plate isn't terrible, could someone clarify what's happening with that spare tire?
