Mazda is set to unveil a new Vision model at the Japan Mobility Show later this month, which features a sedan-like appearance with four doors, frameless windows, and a sleek roofline.

As the Japan Mobility Show 2025 approaches, major automakers are eager to showcase new offerings. Although Mazda's booth may not be the largest on the floor—compared to those of Suzuki, Nissan, and Toyota—it will feature an exciting reveal: a new Vision model characterized by its elegant roofline and four doors.

The concept is intended to represent "the vision for future Mazda vehicles," serving as a design and technology framework for forthcoming models. A teaser image reveals an expansive profile with frameless windows, smooth surfaces, sculpted shoulders, and a tapered roofline, along with futuristic headrests and mirror-replacing cameras.

At first sight, the Vision appears to be a low-profile fastback, but it may also represent a coupe-crossover or a sportier sedan—it's difficult to categorize it based solely on the teaser. The side-window shape and solid D-pillar show similarities to the Mazda3 hatchback, while the rear subtly recalls the 2005 Ford Shelby GR-1 concept. Notably, it is not a continuation of the 2023 Iconic SP Concept, which is set to enter production as a sports car.

Mazda describes the Vision model as embodying the theme for this year's Tokyo exhibition: "The joy of driving fuels a sustainable tomorrow." In simpler terms, it emphasizes maintaining the enjoyment of driving while promoting cleaner vehicles, which could involve electric, hybrid, range-extender, or alternative-fuel engines.

Additionally, the European version of the new CX-5 SUV will make its public debut alongside the Vision model. Mazda will also showcase its proprietary CO₂ capture technology and an algae-derived, carbon-neutral fuel aimed at reducing emissions and enhancing cleaner mobility.

Mazda's participation in the Japan Mobility Show will encompass more than just its main exhibit. The company intends to engage in various programs organized by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, presenting the CX-30 SeDV for drivers with disabilities, the classic RX-7 rotary sports car, the Spirit Racing RS Future Concept, and the CX-60 and CX-80 production SUVs.

We will have to wait until October 29 for further details when Mazda hosts its press conference on the media day of the 2025 Japan Mobility Show.
